History of "Saint-Aube"

There used to be "Rin-Rin Group" in around 1995 where Painter Mr. Nakayama was one of its members. One of the members of this group proposed to establish a class to study paintings to Mr. Nakayama who should be a teacher by using a vacant space in the building newly built by this member in Nakano. Mr. Nakayama accepted this proposal and started this group with 5 person. Mr. Nakayama made excellent arrangements to provide with young models anytime even when the room for the class might have not been available from time to time in the fixed location during around 2 years until when Tama-san kindly offered to make available her facility for this class. After then this group had been gradually growing by geting Shimizu-san, the current chairman of "Saint-Aube", and other new members coming from ex-apprentices of Mr. Nakayama.

Hence the 1st "Saint-Aube" Exposition was held in Ginza in 1999. Mr. Nakayama always described that it would be quite useful for members to participate to the exposition held at any gallery in Ginza even if their paintings might not be felt so good and that it would be possible to get well at their art in the future if they could be proud to exhibit their works in these opportunities. (Mr. Shigeru Nakai, ex-member of Saint-Aube, noted.)

For these ten years, Tanaka-san, "Pulse Gallery" owner at Kagurazaka, has kindly offered to make its room available for croquis assemblies of "Saint-Aube" and all are trying to make progress in their drawings.
